Thanks for giving this so much thought. I really like your last paragraph here. I heard a lot of people say things like, "we need people to stop thinking of plants as a luxury item but as a necessity." But where's the LOVE in that? My mortgage is a necessity. Using the bathroom is a necessity. Wal-Mart sells necessities. Maybe we'd all sell more stuff if plants were a necessary chore, but it certainly wouldn't be as creative and inspiring as you describe!
